NEVER Give Your Pet Away "Free To A Good Home"

Don't ever give your pet away "Free to a good home." I almost did that when I was 18 and thankfully the paper I placed the ad in advised me against it. There are people who look for "free to a good home" ads and harvest these animals for

  • lab experiments
  • canned hunts
  • bait for guard dog training
  • food

and other horrifying fates that your beloved pet does not deserve. These people are not always up front about their plans for your pet. Some pose as loving pet owners.

If you must get rid of your pet ALWAYS charge a fee. At least $40. No matter how wonderful a perspective home is, if they cannot afford to pay $40 for your pet then they cannot afford proper care for your pet anyway. Another alternative is to give your pet to a reputable shelter. The best alternative is never to give your pet away in the first place.

The following website has more information on this subject (Warning: The site may be emotionally difficult for some people to read.)
